Astro Colony Miner; How to Mine?

In Astro Colony you can create an automatic mine. In this guide you will learn how to properly set up a Mine, activate Miners and what mistakes to avoid.

Astro Colony enables you to create a virtual space colony, expand it and make it fully self-sufficient. In order to erect more structures, you'll need resources, and these can be obtained from planets manually or automatically using drones. In this guide you will learn how to implement the latter method.

Astro Colony - automatic mine

Astro Colony is currently in early access, so the game is constantly being refined by the developers. At this stage it is possible to create an automatic mine, but the process is very unintuitive, and the game itself does not explain it very thoroughly, so players have trouble getting it to work.

In order to extract resources automatically, you will need:

  1. Mine
  2. Miners
  3. Docking Station

The most common mistake players make is placing the Mine on a platform on the side of their base, not powering up the required structures, and not activating the drones. In order for the automatic mine to work properly, you need to:

  1. Build a Docking Station on the base side and on the side of the planet from which you want to obtain resources from.
  2. Build a Mine on the planet side and power this construction.
  3. Build drones and assign them to Mine to be on small Launching Pads.
  4. Activate them, deciding what resources will be acquired.

To be able to create this type of automated mine, it is required to unlock the appropriate technology beforehand.

Don't make these mistakes

Several mistakes can easily be made in the game that prevent the automatic mine from working. One of them is putting structures too close together. Because of this, the Robot Assembler may not have enough space, so that the drones may get blocked and thus not reach the launching pad. Another example is the unreasonable laying of cables, so that over time they may end up blocking the place where the required structure is to stand.

Sometimes everything can be built as it should be, but the drones are still stuck on the launching pad and don't want to work. If you have two drones and they have a status of "needed 2/2", simply deactivate them and activate them again. This is a small but very problematic bug in the game.
