Argos From Father of Deus Ex; Aims to Revolutionize Immersive Sims
Warren Spector, known for Deus Ex, is working on Argos: Riders on the Storm, which is expected to revolutionize the immersive sim genre.
Warren Spector, best known as the father of Deus Ex, is getting ready to unveil his new project.
- The game will be titled Argos: Riders on the Storm and is being developed by Otherside Entertainment
- The project is described as a high-budget AAA game representing a new IP.
- Argos: Riders on the Storm is expected to represent a major step forward in the evolution of the immersive sim genre (represented by, e.g. Deus Ex, as well as the Thief, System Shock or Dishonored).
- Spector is not ready to reveal too many details for now. He only stated that it's high time for him to try his hand at multiplayer. Previous job offers from Otherside Entertainment, as well as a brief description of the project on the official website suggest that this is all about cooperative gameplay.
- Among the sources of inspiration cited are the multiplayer modes from Dying Light 2 and Deep Rock Galactic, although at the same time Argos: Riders on the Storm is expected to offer quite a few fresh developments. The goal is to provide gameplay that will enable the players to create their own stories in the same way that traditional immersive sims enable you to do so in single player. We can also expect an advanced simulation of the virtual world, which will dynamically react to our actions.
It is worth noting that Warren Spector is not the only one trying to combine the immersive sim category with multiplayer. Famous from Dishonored, studio Arkane is currently developing its own project of this type in the form of Redfall, which will offer a cooperative mode. This game will also allow for solo play, and hopefully the same will be true for Argos: Riders on the Storm.
It is worth mentioning that we first heard about Warren Spector's new project this March. At that time, however, we did not know the title and genre. It should also be mentioned that we recently learned that Otherside Entertainment is no longer working on System Shock 3, so the team can fully concentrate on Argos: Riders on the Storm.
If you want to go back to Deus Ex, the best way to do it is with the Revision mod.
Any excuse to reinstall the first Deus Ex, is good, so you may be inspired to do so by the first solid news about Warren Spector's next project. If you decide to do so, it's worth installing the Revision mod right away .
The project thoroughly refreshes the audiovisuals of the game. The changes are so big that they look more like a remake than a remaster. Not only has the texture resolution been increased, but also the 3D models have been improved, and all maps have gained a ton of detail.
