Android 11 Available; Outline of New Features
Upgrade to Android version 11 is now available on selected phone models. Owners of these devices can now see the changes and new features.
- Several smartphones have already been updated to Android version 11, including models from Google Pixel, Oppo, Xiaomi and OnePlus.
Some smartphone models have been given the opportunity to update their Android to version 11. According to Slashgear, owners of Google, Oppo, Realme and Xiaomi devices can already enjoy the new features of the system. The update should already be available for download. If this hasn't happened yet, it will be available within a week.
First phones with Android 11
The new system will be available primarily on Pixel models from Google. Other smarthphones to get it will be:
- OnePlus 8
- OnePlus 8 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 10
- Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro
- Oppo Find X2
- Oppo Find X2 Pro
- Realme X50 Pro
Owners of these models should receive notification of a new update soon (or have already received it). If this did not happen, I refer to the blue box where I explained how to check it.
What's new in Android 11
Perhaps the most visible feature is the new type of notifications, the so-called bubbles. They are similar to the ones we have seen so far in Messenger. An application running in the background can notify us of new activity through a small icon appearing on the edge of the screen. You can then perform the action without switching between applications.
The notification area has also been improved. Notifications from communicators have gained a separate place, so we can review them without swithing apps. There is a possibility to capture display image along with sound. Now you can record what is happening on your phone without the need for additional applications.
Support for connected Smart Home devices has been improved. Now the panel with their functions can be called up by holding the phone's power button. In addition, the new system brings many improvements in security, app permissions (their auto-reset in case of unused programs) or one-time permissions to use e.g. microphone.
If your phone is not on the list, it does not mean that you will not receive an update. It can be delivered at a later time, although this depends largely on the manufacturer.
How to check if you have received an update.
If you have a Google Pixel smartphone, scroll down and press System - Advanced - System Update. On Xiaomi phone, go to Settings - About - System update. On your OPPO phone, open Settings and find Software Updates.
