Up to 15 Players in Among Us Lobby Thanks to New Update
The upcoming update for Innersloth's Among Us will bring some surprising new features. The most impressive one so far is the increased maximum number of players in the lobby, which will reach as many as 15 people per session.
After the last, long-awaited update titled "The Airship", for the detective game Among Us, work on the game has accelerated significantly and the creators regularly try to inform us about upcoming news. For another preview of major changes in Innersloth's flagship game we had to wait less than a month and although we do not know much about the upcoming patch, it seems to be quite interesting. Starting with something that is both questionable and intriguing, i.e. game lobby being expanded from 10 to 15 players, through new colors for the crew, to improved graphics and reworking of some of the in-game windows.
If you think about it, all of the above highlights somehow tie together. After all, the game was designed for up to 10 players, so more players also means the need for a more varied color palette. The developers admit that it's hard to find shades that stand out enough from the others, so they're currently brainstorming a new way to identify players than just by character colors. This is meant to help not only regular players, but especially those affected by colorblindness.
There has also been a demand to refresh some of the windows in the game. For example: the current meeting screen perfectly fits a crew of ten, so the creators are forced to add "a few chairs" for the additional five. So a prototype version of the new "meeting menu" was born. This is only an alpha project, but it looks promising. Of course, other similar tabs will also need refreshing.
The devs also mention a slight redesign of the graphics. Nothing special - more aesthetic lines and small changes that will make the game more "modern", but without any departure from the current artistic direction. This change is primarily to help the Among Us team to animate characters and other objects.
The whole thing seems really intriguing, especially in terms of increased player cap. The matter of the other maps in the game is puzzling, because The Airship will be ideally suited for 15 players, but Skeld or Mira HQ are quite cramped for such a number of people. An interesting topic is also the option of another injection of popularity for Among Us, even if it's due to streamers, who may particularly like such a lobby.
Developers have not yet given the release date of the update, but they mention that some details will be released in early May.
