American McGee Appreciates Alice Fans' Actions but Stresses the Next Move Is up to EA
American McGee appreciates fans' actions but isn't returning to game development. Nevertheless, the Alice Asylum „bible” is ready for possible moves by Electronic Arts.
The story of Alice from McGee's Americana seems to be over. Nevertheless, the devs of the would-be Alice Asylum indicated that the roadmap of the third installment of the series is waiting for the moment when Electronic Arts may decide to give the brand another chance.
The post that McgEee published on X was in response to an article by IGN. It describes how American McGee's Alice fans continue the brand's legacy, even though - as the text puts it - the developer himself treats them with cold indifference.
This was expected to become apparent, for example in April, when a supporter of Alice: Asylum indicated that, due to changes introduced by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC), McGee could legally use the Alice brand. The dev responded (repeating himself once again) that he had finished making games. (Let's ignore the fact that such a project most likely couldn't be plot-related to games belonging to Electronic Arts).
Bible is ready
Aside from the jabs at the IGN article, McGee apologized to fans for this "indifference" because he still loves the community around the world of Alice. He sppreciates that players keep the memory of the series and its "flame" alive. Perhaps, as the developer stated, EA will finally see this "light" and "open their eyes" (via X).
However, McGee stressed that he had already done his part. The Alice Asylum "Bible" that the American prepared is much larger and more detailed than what the creators of Alice: Madness Returns had to work with. So if EA ever decides to give the brand a second chance, the roadmap of the new game will be waiting for them.
Fans appreciated the dev's post, but they aren't at all optimistic about the future of the series. Mainly because - as internet users state more or less directly - the community doesn't trust that Electronic Arts will remain faithful to the vision presented by McGee in his "Bible" Alice Asylum.
At the same time, McGee reminded players not to ask him about the future of the series. The developer has absolutely nothing to say on this matter.
