AMD vs Intel - R3 3100 May be the Best Low Cost CPU
Intel Core i3 10100 vs AMD Ryzen 3 3100. Which is the best low-cost processor? Available benchmarks herald the advantage of AMD.
AMD is doing better and better in the premium CPU market, taking the leader's position from Intel. The situation may be similar in the low cost segment. The new generation of budget chips have been given preliminary benchmarks to determine which CPU will be the best in this price range.
Intel Core i3 10100 and AMD Ryzen 3 3100 - test results of these processors appeared on Twitter, in an entry posted by user @TUM_APISAK. The benchmarks used were 3DMark Fire Strike and 3DMark Time Spy.
The first of the conducted tests (Fire Strike) revealed point scores around 16-17 thousand (very similar to each other). The second benchmark only reassured the belief that the processors are very similar in terms of performance - the results of both CPUs fluctuated around 7 thousand points.
Intel's product runs on a default 3.6 GHz clock with the ability to boost to 4.3 GHz, thus achieving higher clock rates than AMD's proposal. The Ryzen can boost its 3.6 GHz only to 3.9 GHz. But is this a significant difference? And above all, is it worth the extra money?
Intel Core i3 10100 is expected to cost $122, while the AMD's processor is cheaper and its price is $99. It is worth noting that the issue of the motherboard also plays a major role here. AMD's product can be mounted on an older motherboard with AM4 socket and Intel's CPU only on boards with the new LGA 1200 socket. The balance in this case indicates that AMD processor is the better choice. However, let's remember that more thorough tests will only appear on the web when Intel's CPU is available to the public. This will dispel all doubts.
