Alice in Wonderland-inspired sci-fi exploration game Alice VR to launch this month
Fans of virtual reality experiences should check out Alice VR, an exploration adventure game set in a sci-fi environment. The game will be out on Steam this month.
What if you combined the classic story of Alice in Wonderland with science fiction and served it on a virtual reality plate? You’d come up with Alice VR, an exploration adventure game in development by Polish indie studio Carbon to be published by CDP.pl subsidiary Kabater. In Alice VR you will play as a spacecraft pilot forced to land on a desert planet to refuel. Once he reaches the surface, he discovers that all the inhabitants are gone, which pushes him to explore the port city. Watch the dev diary video below to learn more about gameplay and inspirations (English captions available):
As you see, the locations you’ll get to visit in the game go up and are multi-layered, which makes up a great environment for a VR experience. Alice VR will also use gravitional ramps mechanics (inspired by the first Prey from 2006), letting you walk on walls and ceilings. Similarly to the original Alice in Wonderland, you will be able to shrink and enlarge your character in order to solve environmental puzzles.
Alice VR will debut on Steam this month – on October 27 – and will offer support for popular virtual reality headsets (Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, and OSVR). If you don’t have a VR device, you can still play the game with a standard screen mode, but it obviously won’t look so cool.
