Please note, the following text reveals the plot of Ahsoka!

An adventure of several weeks with Ahsoka has just come to an end. And although this is only the beginning of the story built by Dave Filoni, the final episode of the show has already brought us some answers about Grand Admiral Thrawn's sinister plans. However, it's not so much about his desire to restore Imperial rule, but how he intends to do it.

In the eighth episode of Ahsoka we see how the commander finally manages to make his way into the galaxy known from Star Wars. In his triumphant return, he is accompanied by Night Stormtroopers and Great Mothers. The presence of the latter aboard the Chimera, however, is no coincidence. For they all plan to go to Dathomir, the planet that has become the new home of the Sisters of the Night. For what purpose? It most likely has to do with the hitherto mysterious cargo also found aboard an Imperial destroyer. It appears to be coffins that most likely contain the bodies of future warriors of Thrawn's army.

Yes, you did not mishear. All indications are that the Admiral plans to use the power of the Sisters of the Night from Dathomir to resurrect the dead. They wield the same power as the Great Mothers, who, during the last episode, managed to breathe life into the stormtroopers who fell in battle with Ezra, Sabine and Ahsoka.

Admittedly, the presence of zombies in the Star Wars universe is not new, as they have already appeared in The Clone Wars. Nevertheless Ahsoka is the first live-action show to rely on this solution.

Given the fact that the Empire remnant forces have been demilitarized and scattered throughout the galaxy, resurrecting an army of the dead for Thrawn's use seems quite logical. It would take a very long time to recruit new soldiers, and in the meantime the New Republic could organize a counteroffensive. On the other hand, units formed from zombies would be ready for action immediately.

Either way, the ending of Ahsoka shows that the heroes are standing on the threshold of a grave danger. What the story's finale will be, we'll most likely find out from Dave Filoni's movie, which will tie together the plots of all of Disney's latest Star Wars series.
