Age of Wonders 4 Expects Second Major Expansion
We learned the release date and content of the Empires & Ashes DLC for the turn-based strategy game Age of Wonders 4. The Golem update will debut simultaneously with the DLC.
Triumph announced Empires & Ashes, the second paid DLC for the turn-based fantasy strategy game Age of Wonders 4. The expansion will be released on November 7, 2023 and is expected to be larger than the first one, i.e. Dragon Dawn.
The expansion will offer:
- a new faction in the form of the bird-like Avians,
- a new culture (Reavers),
- new magic tomes,
- a new campaign (Ashes from the Past),
- a new Victory Condition.
Traditionally in multiplayer, if the host has a DLC, all players participating in the game will gain access to the new content. It's also worth mentioning that further expansions are planned (in the first quarter of 2024, the studio will release Primal Fury, and in the second quarter of 2024 - Eldritch Realms).
Along with Empires & Ashes a free update titled Golem will be released, which will introduce many interesting improvements. For example, the long-awaited Item Forge for creating magic items for heroes will finally appear. We can also expect an overhaul of water gameplay mechanics and bug fixes.
Age of Wonders 4 was released on May 2, this year on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. Its first major expansion debuted in June, in the form of Dragon Dawn. Several small DLCs with cosmetic items were also released. The game has been warmly received - on Steam 80% of all reviews are positive.
