Age of Wonders 4 Officially Announced; Release Date and Requirements
Predictions came true - „something magical” turned out to be Age of Wonders 4, which was officially announced today. The release of the game will take place quite soon, so in addition to the trailer we saw some gameplay. We also learned the game's system requirements.
The leak, which we reported earlier today, has been confirmed - Triumph Studios and Paradox Interactive officially announced Age of Wonders 4. As the title indicates, it will be the the fourth installment of the fantasy series of turn-based strategy games. This means no more science fiction, which the developers successfully experimented with in Age of Wonders: Planetfall of 2019.
Interestingly, Age of Wonders 4 will be released sooner than one might expect. The title is scheduled for release on May 2, 2023 for PC, PS5 and XSX/S. Before starting the actual game in Age of Wonders 4 we will come to define the kingdom we will rule. Among other things, we will define its climate, adjust its inhabitants - you can choose ready-made factions - decide on their culture and social characteristics. In addition, we will describe with various attributes the leader we will play the role of, at the same time equipping him with a book of magic, necessary for strengthening troops during combat, etc.
The actual gameplay also received a few novelties. It was enriched, among other things, with a system of events, which will significantly diversify the story layer of Age of Wonders 4. In addition, the presented gameplay has shown some exemplary results of the decisions made earlier - initially neutral cities were included in the kingdom, and as a result of a cast spell its areas were covered with snow.
The developers, on the other hand, did not present much in terms of the battle system. Battles take place, of course, in turns, and the advantage in them can be gained quite easily by skillfully using the terrain. However, this is nothing we are not familiar with from previous installments. Possible innovations in this aspect will therefore have to wait.
