Age of Empires 4 Launches This Fall; Extensive Gameplay Released
Today at 9:00 AM PT, Microsoft held a show, where a new extensive gameplay from the upcoming Age of Empires 4 was presented. We also learned the game's release date.
We've known for some time that Microsoft will hold an event in April, at which it will present more details about Age of Empires IV. First of all, we expected news about the release date and we got it - the RTS developed by Relic Entertainment will launch in the fall of 2021. By the way, we saw an extensive gameplay on the game engine.

Ever since the game's announcement we wondered whether the fourth full-fledged installment of the strategy game series will bring at least a delicate breath of fresh air to the franchise. Now we know that Age of Empires IV will primarily remain faithful to the fundamental premise of its predecessors. We will have to gather resources (food, gold, wood and stones), build bases and train soldiers. And, of course, fight - in the game we'll control four factions: the Chinese, the Delhi Sultanate (India), the English and the Mongols . Each of them will receive unique buildings, wonders and units (e.g. playing as India, we'll train war elephants, and as China, we'll build the characteristic multi-storey pagodas).
The scale of battles draws particular attention. The units displayed on screen, animals, siege machines, and ships - and yes, there will be navy in the game, too - come in throngs, making clashes seem truly massive. I'm sure keeping control of the battles won't be easy... especially as Age of Empires IV looks simply fantastic. I won't dwell on the visuals here, see for yourself. Just admit that there is a lot eye candy here.
Relic Entertainment's game will be a PC exclusive and will be released on Microsoft Store and Steam. In addition, the title will be available on Xbox Game Pass from the release day, so fans of relatively cheap gaming - or just people who are not quite sure about buying Age of Empires IV - will also get the opportunity to test the latest installment of the iconic series.
