New game about snipers in World War 2 setting may divide fans of the series. Sniper Elite: Resistance seems too much like Sniper Elite 5
The first reviews of Sniper Elite: Resistance have appeared. The spin-off of the series by Rebellion studio is receiving average reviews from critics.
This coming Thursday, the action game Sniper Elite: Resistance will be released, which received its first reviews today. Unfortunately, this may slightly upset all fans waiting for this installment of the popular series - the PC version of the title has so far received fairly average reviews from critics.
The spin-off of the series in the PC version currently has 18 reviews on Metacritic, with an average score of 71/100. The game performs slightly better on PS5 - in this case, critics also gave 18 ratings, resulting in an average score of 76/100. As for OpenCritic, the game has an average of 72/100, with 41 reviews published.

Despite everything, Sniper Elite: Resistance should appeal to some fans, because, as one reviewer underlines, the game has more of the same as in the fifth installment of the series (from 2022). The discussed title is particularly praised for its shooting mechanics, described as "enjoyable" and "satisfying." Side quests and a large, open space are also considered an advantage.
On the other hand, some critics are displeased that the title lacks new solutions and sticks too much to the framework of Sniper Elite 5. Some outright accuse Resistance of "stagnation," suggesting that the formula of the entire series is starting to run out. The negative aspects of the game also included the forgettable new protagonist (and the rest of the cast).
Sniper Elite: Resistance will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on January 30, 2025. The title will also hit PC/Xbox Game Pass on day one.
