Decade After Its Release, Watch Dogs Is Still Improving Thanks to Living_City
Version 2.8 of Living_City, a major mod that expands the content of the Watch Dogs game and improves the dynamic nature of its world, has been released.
In few weeks the first installment of Watch Dogs will celebrate its tenth birthday. Ubisoft has long forgotten about this game (even the further development of WD: Legion was abandoned two years ago, so the whole IP isn't a priority for this publisher now), but the project still has its fans, and one of them, known as The Silver has been tirelessly improving it for six years with the help of the great mod Living_City. Recently the project received a new version, numbered 2.8.
The biggest news of the update are improvements to the control system, allowing us to quickly zoom in and change the camera while aiming. It has also been made possible to completely disable the system that helps with aiming. Furthermore, the project has fixed many technical bugs.

Living_City aims to expand the contents of Watch Dogs and make virtual Chicago a more dynamic place. The author introduced additional guarded zones on the map of the metropolis, protected by armed patrols. Random events have also been implemented and the ambush feature, which was originally in the developers' plans but was cut before release, has been reinstated – in it enemies can commission fake contracts to draw us into a trap. Hacking options have also been expanded, new hideouts have been added, and returns to interiors from missions have been made possible (they were blocked after completing missions in vanilla game). In addition, police scans have been replaced with real interventions, where after receiving a report, police officers arrive on the scene to investigate the case.
All of the above elements were made available when Living_City was released in 2018. Then, over the next six years, the mod continued to improve. The author introduced new gadgets, additional contracts and street racing challenges. Events that are singleplayer versions of other players' invasions were also implemented. The developer also prepared numerous gameplay improvements, covering elements like combat, stealth, and a reputation system.
Overall the mod strongly expands the game and makes it more dynamic, while fixing most of its shortcomings. Today Living_City is a must-have item for Watch Dogs fans.
