400 Minecraft Players Spent Decade Creating a City
400 Minecraft players have spent over 9 years creating a city based on Los Angeles - called Greenfield. The metropolis consists of over twenty million blocks.
Players have already built up a variety of impressive things in Minecraft, as we've reported in various messages on more than one occasion. All of these projects, however, pale compared to the work described in this thread on Reddit. 400 people have spent nearly a decade creating the Los Angeles-based city of Greenfield in Mojang AB's game - on a scale of 1:1. You can find the current version of the city at this address.
Welcome to Greenfield
Looking at the picture above, at first glance we get the impression that we are dealing with some kind of stylized postcard. It's only when we take a closer look that we see that it's actually a screenshot from Minecraft. Both by the sheer size of the metropolis (you can find the map below) and its detail level are impressive.
It is worth noting that the project has not yet been completed (one of the creators wrote that about 20% is missing) - but it is already breathtaking. Currently, the city consists of over twenty million blocks. One of the creators ensures that all the buildings we see above have finished interiors. The suburban areas, which are also gradually being filled with content, were not forgotten either. A huge group of people who make up Greenfield communicate and coordinate their activities using a channel on Discord. The creators even carry out special inspections to make sure everything works properly.
