Mortal Shell: Death - what are the consequences Mortal Shell guide, walkthrough
Last update: 21 August 2020
This page of the Mortal Shell guide focuses on the consequences of your character's death and things you can do after dying.
Death in Mortal Shell
Mortal Shell is a demanding game meaning you will die quite a number of times. That's why it's important to understand what death means in this title. The way it works isn't too different from other souls-like games. When you die, you lose all the Tar you carried and you go back to the last checkpoint. You can recover your lost Tar by going back to where you died. Approach your shell and interact with it to get back what you lost. However, if you die a second time without picking up the lost Tar, it will be irretrievably lost.
Second chance in Mortal Shell
If you use a character class (Shell) and you die, your character will fall out of his Shell and fight as an empty husk. This mechanic allows you to keep fighting. However, your character will die from one hit. You can continue to fight like this, or re-enter your Shell to regain much of your health and be able to use the skills of the class. Remember, however, that you can only do this once. This resets the moment you die for good.
