- Left Analog - Moving Sackboy.
- Right Analog - Moving objects, sometimes rotating the camera.
- L3 - Moving Sackboy's head.
- R3 - Rotating objects in level editor.
- D-Pad - control over Sackboy mimics. There are three levels of emotions, choose them by pressing once, twice or thrice:
- - Up - Happy
- - Down - Sad
- - Left - Worried/Scared
- - Right - Rough/Angry
- X - Jump. Hold X to jump further or to fly faster with jet pack on your back. In level editor press X to confirm.
- Circle - cancel/back
- Square - open menu.
- Triangle - deleting objects in the editor.
- R1 - [hold] grabbing objects. Next page in the menu
- L1 - Previous page in the menu
- L2 [hold] + Left Analog - moving Sackboy's left arm.
- R2 [hold] + Right Analog - moving Sackboy's right arm.
- Start - opens Start Menu.
- Select - In community/user-created level, opens Good Grief - menu that allows to report inappropriate content.
- SIXAXIS - Moving Sackboy's head and body.
