In the last days of the Underground Empire, four of the greatest imperial alchemists have decided to go in the direction of the Forbidden Lands to find the mystery of immortality. When their hearing disappeared, a Bivotar spy rushed on a rescue mission, but he also failed to return alive from the expedition. At this point you, the player, enter the action.
The aim of Zork Nemesis is to defeat a powerful demon who, as it soon turns out, insidiously imprisoned and then murdered the Alchemists. Their souls have been locked in four different worlds. You must travel personally through all dimensions and establish spiritual contact with scholars. Only cooperation with Alchemists will allow you to solve the problem plaguing the land of Zork, i.e. the destruction of a monster.
Zork Nemesis resembles the great hit of Cyan Worlds entitled Myst. Just like there, we observe the action from the perspective of the first person, traversing subsequent locations. The only difference is the ability to rotate the head 360 degrees, which allows you to get acquainted with the environment. In Zork Nemesis, the elements characteristic of adventurers have been reduced to the minimum necessary. There are practically no objects in the game, instead of thinking about the purpose of the buckles collected along the way, we have to concentrate on solving numerous puzzles.
Zork Nemesis' graphic design is highly acclaimed. Admittedly, during the game we only watch static images, but turning the head automatically activates the appropriate video sequence. It is worth mentioning here the authors' craftsmanship with regard to the execution of subsequent locations. While staying in an ancient temple, it is hard not to bow down to a respectable architecture, as is the station buried in the snow, where the player is constantly exposed to the feeling of claustrophobia. A special atmosphere is added to the whole by a beautiful soundtrack, which consists of music and ambient sounds.
