Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol is a compilation of two slightly remastered and enriched with new features shoot'em ups, developed by LucasArts studio in 1993-1994. The set was developed by DotEmu team and published by Lucasfilm Games.

Plot

The main characters of Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol are teenagers Zeke and Julie. In the first game, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, the protagonists must save their neighbours from an invasion of creatures straight from a horror movie. In the second game, Ghoul Patrol, the protagonists accidentally summon a powerful ghost who, along with his army, intends to rewrite the history books stored in the library, changing the past of Metropolis in his own ghastly ways. Zeke and Julie must go back in time and thwart their plans or their hometown will face annihilation.

Mechanics

In games included in the set Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol the action is shown from the top-down view. In the course of the gameplay we travel through various locations and save the neighbours (as well as local cheerleaders, schoolmates, teachers, tourists or soldiers). Despite the fact that rescuing only one person is required to advance to the next stage, it's worth trying harder, because we receive points for each saved person, which provide us with additional lives.

Of course, hordes of enemies disturb us in rescuing our neighbours. We are talking about zombies, mummies, possessed dolls, lizard people, vampires, oversized ants and even Martians. We eliminate adversaries using an extensive arsenal including water pistols, explosive sodas, bazookas and garden shovels. In addition, from time to time in the hands of the heroes get powerful artifacts and power-ups temporarily increasing their combat potential.

Game modes

Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol can be played solo or in local co-op mode.

Technical aspects

The graphics of the games that make up Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol remained the same as in the original; the whole set was only adjusted to work in higher resolutions. However, the set is distinguished by the ability to save the game at any time, as well as a virtual museum where players can listen to an interview with one of the creators and see a gallery of concept sketches and advertising materials. In addition, a soundtrack from both games is waiting to be checked out.
