Gameplay

XXX Nightshift is an RPG game, being marketed as a spiritual successor to the cult classic Disco Elysium. The game was developed by the British studio Dark Math Games, whose ranks were joined by about 20 former employees of the ZA/UM company.

Plot

In the story told in XXX Nightshift, the issues related to the functioning of society, psychology, and philosophy are being discussed. The game takes us to the future, specifically - to the year 2086. We find ourselves in World's End, a ski resort located in Antarctica, and we take on the role of Dinorah Katz, a security guard spending the holiday weekend there. The protagonist gets entangled in a political-poetic intrigue, behind which lurk macabre discoveries. What her ending will be largely depends on our actions and the choices we make.

Gameplay

In XXX Nightshift we view the action from an isometric view. During the game, we take control of Dinorah, whom we shape by combining her defining "Traces" scattered across various categories.

The pillar of the gameplay is having conversations with other people encountered in World's End. By interrogating them, we get to know them better and learn more about the world around us. The game regularly forces us to make choices that affect the course of the story. Moreover, we have to investigate crime scenes in the game.

Although there is nothing to prevent us from doing everything alone, the game allows us to choose a partner who will help us in the ongoing investigation. The presence of a companion (or their absence) also does not remain without influence on the plot.
