Xevious 3D/G is the fourth installment of the shoot'em up series developed by Namco. The production debuted on arcade machines, but after a year it also found its way to the PS1 console, as part of the Xevious 3D/G+ compilation, which also includes Xevious, Super Xevious and Xevious Arrangement.

Story

In Xevious 3D/G the player takes on the role of the pilot of spacecraft Solvalou, and their task is to repel the invasion of Xevian - an aggressive alien race from the title planet Xevious, whose target is the Earth.

Mechanics

Events in which we take part in Xevious 3D/G are observed from a camera suspended above our vehicle; however, from time to time the action is shown from TPP. The game is based on the destruction of everything that stands in our way - from other spacecraft to the structures erected on Earth by Xevian. An extensive arsenal (such as guns, lasers and plasma guns), which we acquire by collecting power-ups scattered on the maps, helps us in completing the mission entrusted to us. It is worth noting that more powerful guns are especially useful during battles with huge bosses. Our actions are supervised by a scoring system, which continuously evaluates our combat effectiveness; in order to achieve the best possible result, it is necessary not only to eliminate opponents, but also to avoid enemy projectiles.

Technical aspects

Unlike earlier installments of the Xevious 3D/G series, the game features 3D graphics based on polygons.
