The fourth installment of the popular shoot'em upów series and at the same time the first to use 3D graphics. Production is characterized by a high level of difficulty and allows you to test your reflexes as a pilot of a combat spacecraft.
R-Type Delta is another installment of a popular arcade space shooter series developed by Irem. the fathers of the franchise, working in the industry since the seventies of the 20th century. At the same time, it is the first installment in which 3D visuals were used.
Story
Astronomers from the Asian Observatory assume that unidentified objects that flew into the Earth's atmosphere were meteors. Sometime later, problems with energy and the proper functioning of electrical equipment appear in many cities. It soon comes to light that this is an element of attack from the Bydo Empire. As a result of hostile civilization's actions, mankind loses control over Moritz-G, a battle station capable of annihilating entire planets. The world stands on the brink of destruction. Its last hope is a group of space fighter pilots.
Mechanics
R-Type Delta does not deviate from the solutions used in the previous installment of the series. Again, the players take control of a ship flying to the right, and their task is to eliminate the enemies and stay alive. The devs from Irem have put at the disposal of players several types of fighters, which differ in terms of weapons and special features. A new element in R-Type Delta is the Dose system, enabling the players can absorb enemy attacks and accumulate them into the energy needed to fire a state-of-the-art and very powerful weapon.
R-Type Delta enables fans of challenges to prove themselves by trying to finish the game at higher difficulty levels. For successful completion of the story they can unlock an additional combat ship.
Technical aspects
R-Type Delta is the first game in the series created in three dimensions. As a tribute to the fans of the franchise, the devs have prepared, among other things, detailed 3D models of several vehicles, which appeared in earlier installments. When playing, we are accompanied by a mix of techno and rock music, appropriately matched to the style of the maps.
