XCOM 2 Collection

XCOM 2 Collection is a set containing the XCOM 2 strategy game and all its add-ons - a large War of the Chosen expansion and four DLCs (Resistance Warrior Pack, Anarchy's Children, Alien Hunters and Shen's Last Gift). The game was developed by Firaxis Games studio. The publisher is 2K Games.

Plot

XCOM 2 presents a story that takes place twenty years after the events from the first part. Humanity failed in its clash with the invaders from space and as a result the aliens took control of the Earth, having public opinion dream about cooperation between races. Fighting the invaders, the XCOM organization now operates under guerrilla conditions, trying to free Earthlings from the yoke of the enemy.

Mechanics

In XCOM 2 Collection we can split the gameplay into two parts. The first is the strategic layer within which we manage the base and develop the technology. The second layer of the game are fights realized in turn-based system, on randomly generated maps, during which we directly control our soldiers on the battlefield.

Due to the guerrilla character of our organization, missions very often require to stay hidden - the fact that the field of view of enemies is marked on the map helps in this. Thanks to this we can often surprise them. On the other hand, we often have to hurry - we have limited time to achieve the goal.

The soldiers we command may belong to one of several character classes. As the game progresses, we can develop heroes' skills and acquire new combat abilities. We also decide on their equipment - over time we have a wide range of armour, weapons and gadgets at our disposal (a key role is played here by acquiring and analyzing technology used by aliens).

The included War of the Chosen add-on offers new items, classes, factions, enemies and missions, as well as a number of changes to the tactical layer of the game (including new abilities and the SITREP system, which modifies various elements of the missions to make them more different from each other). Smaller DLCs focus on additional content - tasks, equipment, types of enemies and side story threads.

Game modes

XCOM 2 Collection offers the same modes as the basic edition. Apart from the single player campaign, we also have here a multiplayer mode that allows two players to fight with a squad composed on the basis of a points system (we buy specific soldiers for them).

Technical aspects

XCOM 2 Collection offers a nice, three-dimensional graphic design that is no different from what we know from the basic edition. We have here interestingly designed and well animated models of soldiers and aliens, as well as quite detailed game environment. It is worth noting that the maps are characterised by a considerable level of diversity.
