Another full-fledged installment in the popular series of third-person perspective action games with tactical features. The series is developed by the Japanese studio Omega Force. The story of Dynasty Warriors 9 is loosely based on the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms that describes the Chinese civil war that occurred during the 2nd and 3rd century. The player can choose from a few dozen of varied characters, some of which are well known from the previous entries in the series. The rest are completely new characters or ones from other games from this developer. The gameplay focuses on real-time battles with hundreds of participants. The title was released as part of the 15th anniversary of the series and it introduces some important novelties to the saga, including a modified combat system and a large open world that contains the entirety of China. The key to victory lies in proper usage of available weapons and special abilities of various characters and in taking advantage of the topography of the battlefields.

Another full-fledged installment of Stronghold, a popular strategy game series developed by FireFly since 2001. As always, the game takes us to medieval times, and allows us to assume the role of a lord with a small castle and a poor village at his command. Our job is to grow the area to become a powerful domain. Stronghold Next doesn’t differ much from the previous installments of the series – we are occupied with expanding the village and the titular stronghold, as well as engaging in wars with other lords. However, Stronghold Next contains a number of new elements that have enhanced the gameplay. The game mainly focuses on economic (village management) and military aspects (battles that employ various siege techniques). The players can also design and expand their fortress using a wide range of ready-made elements.

The gameplay is based on efficient bypassing of opponents' balls, which makes it easier to slow down time, and eliminating them with a wide range of weapons. The whole is complemented by a spectacular audiovisual setting and largely destructible environment.

The story is set in the 2nd century B.C. in China, during the reign of the Han Dynasty and the Three Kingdoms era that began afterwards. The story combines historical events with those presented in the 14th century novel called “Romance of the Three Kingdoms”, making the game a mix of actual places and characters as well as fictional plot events. In Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII, our task is to wage war by recruiting and training units, equipping them and commanding them directly in battles. The extensive turn-based combat system is complemented by the necessity of keeping the supply lines for our armies as well as conducting diplomatic activities and managing the conquered cities.
