WWE 2K23

WWE 2K23 is a sports game, recreating the wrestling matches of the titular federation. The game is part of a popular series by 2K Games and was developed by Visual Concepts, also responsible for NBA 2K and WWE 2K22.

Mechanics

In terms of gameplay, this installment builds upon the ideas introduced by its predecessors. Once again, the title is a fighting game revolving around battles in a ring between several fighters. The player can make use of many different punches, grabs, throws and special techniques. Many of the sport's greatest stars are playable, such as Roman Reigns, "American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes, Ronda Rousey, Brock Lesnar and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin.

The players can also look at the more administrative side of wrestling, becoming a team or event manager.

The game also features an expansive editor allowing one to create their own wrestlers, movesets, arenas and competitions.

Game modes

WWE 2K23 supports singleplayer and multiplayer. The game features many different modes. In MyRISE, our task is to guide a wrestler through their career, from their debut to stardom. This mode features elaborate storylines, separate both for the men's and women's divisions.

Universe, on the other hand, is a large wrestling sandbox allowing the players to manage their own version of the WWE. Showcase is a mode starring John Cena, allowing the player to relive the most important moments from his 20-years career.

WarGames focuses on dynamic 3v3 team fights, both in singleplayer and multiplayer.

MyGM mode, on the other hand, lets you experience wrestling as a manager. The player creates their own squad, manages the budget, signs contracts and chooses different types of matches, their locations and other important aspects/ The goal is to beat the competing manager in weekly ranking battles.

MyFACTION mode, now also available online, lets the player build an all-star team and upgrade their stats until they create a legendary four-people squad, which can then be transferred to online play and used to battle against other players.

Technical aspects

The game's graphics are fully 3D, its most impressive feature being the faithfully reproduced character models. Both the visuals and the controls have been upgraded since the previous installment.
