Plot
In Wormster Dash, the plot does not play the key role. During gameplay, we assume the role of a brave man who wakes up a giant monster while plundering ancient ruins. Intending to devour the hero, the creature starts chasing him and destroys everything in its way. The protagonist has no other choice but to take to his heels.
Mechanics
Wormster Dash utilises the side-view. During gameplay, the hero constantly runs to the right with the objective of finding a safe way out. To do so, he needs not only to avoid numerous traps (by e.g. jumping over saw blades rotating on the ground) and destroy obstacles in the way but also take the shortest and safest paths. Death, which is rather common in this game, means starting all over. Therefore, the production is not very long (for a veteran, it takes just a few minutes), but requires following the trial-and-error method.
Technical aspects
There is no doubt that the hand-drawn, monochromatic graphics make Wormster Dash stand out. All visuals were first sketched on paper, then transferred to the virtual world frame by frame.
