Rayman Fiesta Run
Continuation of a casual platform game dedicated mainly to owners of mobile devices.
A continuation to a casual platform game Rayman Jungle Run, which was a mobile-devices-oriented spin-off of a popular series, originated in 1995 by Ubisoft. Similarly to its predecessor, the game first debuted on mobile devices running on iOS and Android, and then was ported to PC.
General gameplay mechanics stayed unchanged. Rayman Fiesta Run is a typical representative of the so-called endless runners genre, where the character always moves to the right, and the player’s role boils down to performing certain actions, such as jumping over obstacles, climbing at walls, or evading opponents. The goal is not only to reach the finishing line, but also collect a set number of Lums on the way, which make a sort of local in-game currency. In contrast to the first game, here game levels are not divided into jumping- and running-oriented. The hero has to be able to effectively use all his abilities right from the start, which may be a difficulty for the beginners.
In Fiesta Run, you not only control Rayman, but also other characters known from the series, who are unlocked along with the progress in the game. The game consists of 80 levels of increasing difficulty, which can be approached repeatedly in order to get the best score and earn your place in online ranks. During the game, you get to visit, e.g. ice and kitchen levels known from Rayman Origins, as well as new ones, take the sugar land. The Lums you collect can be exchanged for special power-ups in the in-game store, such as the flying fist (smash obstacles from a distance) or extra health. Similarly to Jungle Run, the most persistent players are rewarded with access to four hardcore final stages, which are characterized by slightly different gameplay mechanics and high difficulty.
Rayman Jungle Run was created on an in-house UbiArt Framework game engine, used e.g. in Rayman Origins. The graphics is delightful with its blazing colors and amazing animations. At the same time, due to its high difficulty, the game appeals rather to older players. The adventure is accompanied by soundtrack typical of the entire series – the music mixes spectacular orchestral pieces with funny themes resembling songs for children. The soundtrack fits perfectly into the game’s atmosphere, and each of the playable characters has their own musical theme.
