World of Warships Description
World of Warships is a PC online action game with simulation and MMO elements. It's a free-to-play title, featuring microtransactions, created by Wargaming, already known for World of Tanks and World of Warplanes. All three of these games share the same virtual currency.
Plot
World of Warships doesn't have a story. The game focuses on online naval battles against other players. The developers haven't strictly stuck to a single time period. The available ships come from the 1900-1950, though most of them were used during World War II.
They were fielded by such countries as the USA, Japan, USSR, Germany and Great Britain. Players can choose their ships freely, meaning the teams can mix-and-match units from different countries.
Mechanics
World of Warships focuses on naval battles between two teams, each player controlling a single warship. These are divided into four classes - destroyers, cruisers, battleships and aircraft carriers - each with unique strengths and weaknesses. The gameplay combines arcade and simulation elements. On one hand, the ships' stats, such as firepower and speed, match the actual capabilities of their real-life counterparts. The controls, however, are heavily simplified and easy to grasp. Succeeding at World of Warships requires co-operation with your teammates.
Players can own more than a single ship, unlocking new ones and upgrading them between battles in development trees - one per class. This requires much effort and time (or microtransactions), so you should carefully consider each decision. Each ship also has a captain assigned to it, who has his own development tree.
World of Warships features several competitive PvP modes and co-op battles against the AI. There are also training missions, during which one can polish their skills before playing with others.
