Wild Wastes for PC and iOS is a survival game, mixed with rouge-like elements, developed by Everplay Interactive.

Gameplay

Unlike most games of this genre, the action takes place in modern times, in a small American town called Earlsboro, located in Oklahoma. The vision offered by the authors seriously departs from what we are accustomed to. In Wild Wastes, the city has been taken over by bandits, aliens, and bloodthirsty creatures called negatives, which were human once, but now they live only to see the extinction of humankind. Our task is to stay alive for a week.

Mechanics

The camera is located high above the players’ head, while the combat system is arcade-oriented, as it was modeled after shooters. During the encounters, we use a wide arsenal of weapons, including rifles, pistols, or Molotov cocktails. However, the ammo is almost always scarce, so most of the time our hero will have to rely on melee weapons, such as axes or knives. Aside from combat, the players have to search for food and shelter, as well as gather valuable items and resources that are used to build new equipment using the crafting system. The city is also a shelter for numerous neutral characters, offering various side missions.

Wild Wastes for PC and iOS doesn’t force one, “appropriate” playstyle, or a linear set of quests. Instead, we have a complete freedom of exploration and choice of missions. The whole game was designed to be viable for multiple differing playthroughs. The world, as well as item and enemy placement is generated randomly – as a result, we are always subjected to new adventures. Additionally, each survived week unlocks new characters and items to use during next seven days.

Game Modes

Aside from single-player mode, Wild Wastes incorporates a multiplayer component in form a co-op mode that allows joint playthroughs for the users of different platforms.
