Minecraft: Pocket Edition Description
Minecraft: Pocket Edition is a mobile port of the cult sandbox game released on PC and consoles. Just as the original title, the mobile version was developed by Swedish company Mojang AB.
Gameplay
Overall, the gameplay mechanics in Minecraft for WP, iOS and AND are identical to the versions for stationary platforms. You are thrown into a procedurally generated 3D world made of voxels, which you view in first-person perspective, and free to do whatever you please. Initially, gameplay focuses mainly on exploration of the game area (both its surface and dungeons) in search for better and better resources, and constructing more advanced tools. Having acquired necessary materials, you can start building a shelter, then expand and upgrade it. Depending on the mode you have picked, you may also have to fight off monsters and deal with other environmental challenges (survival mode). There is also a multiplayer mode, allowing many people to coexist in the same world.
Technology
Initially, the mobile release was much poorer than the PC and consoles editions (limited game area, limited number of players on servers, no dungeons, etc.), however, in time, new game updates filled these gaps. Besides, the Pocket Edition acquired its own identity, receiving unique elements unavailable on stationary versions. These are e.g. types of blocks (materials) available only here and special elements of environment. Some slight differences are also visible in the visuals – on smartphones and tablets graphics seem to be smoother and more colorful.
