Whiplash, released on PS2 and XBOX, is a classic three-dimensional platformer. The action takes place in a laboratory used by humans to carry out cruel animal experiments. We spend the majority of our time on breaking through rooms, destroying objects, fighting enemies and jumping on platforms.
Plot
The two heroes manage to free themselves from the cages and now their task is to get out of the carefully guarded complex. We play the role of a weasel named Spanx, who is chained to the immortal rabbit Redmond. Therefore, the rabbit is perfect not only as a hook allowing to overcome difficult terrain obstacles but also as a weapon for eliminating guards.
Mechanics
We improve our stats by defeating enemies. Also, we can cover Redmond in toxic wastewater, fire or liquid nitrogen to change his properties.
While trying to escape from the laboratory, we also try to free the remaining animals, for which we receive bonuses. Each damaged element of the environment has a specific value expressed in dollars. If we manage to damage more than six million dollars before the game is completed, we will unlock additional content.
Technical aspects
Whiplash graphics design is done in 3D and uses a cartoon style. Animal violence was met with some opposition. Kurt Harland from Information Society is responsible for the soundtrack. Its speed adapts to the speed of pressing buttons on the gamepad.
