Jarret could not control the damaged aircraft and was forced to make an emergency landing. Three passengers on board watched with anxiety as an experienced pilot tried to save the feral machine from total destruction. Subsequent events took place in a blink of an eye. The plane hit the ground, raising dust clouds and battering the surrounding trees. The hull shell was torn and the engines completely devastated. Nevertheless, the crew, huddled in the seats, could speak of great happiness. Apart from minor scratches and bruises, people came out of the catastrophe unscathed. Only after a few minutes, when they finally managed to leave the plane, the unfortunate pilots realized that they had hit the gutter from the rain....
Where Time Stood Still is an action/adventure game, which will be created by programmers from Denton Design, responsible for The Great Escape. The above title was not a coincidence, because in many respects both products are very similar to each other.
The main goal of the struggle is to survive in an unfriendly environment. The protagonists smashed in the place where time definitively stood still. Unknown land is inhabited by dinosaurs and primitive natives, ready to kill daredevils at first contact without any unnecessary mistakes. In order to survive, it is necessary to act in a group....
Heroes have different skills. Both Jarret and Dirk are well built, which translates into their overall strength in difficult conditions. The opposite is the case with the elderly Clive and his daughter Gloria, who do not belong to specially physically active people. In the game there is also the need to eat meals - it is worth remembering that some characters feel hunger faster, while others can withstand long moments without food. Finding the weak and strong points of each character, and then combining them into an efficient mechanism, allowing you to survive in a dangerous land, is the biggest problem faced by a player in Where Time Stood Still. Collecting items, using them, obtaining food and weapons is really just a foretaste of what Denton Graphics' product offers.
Compared to the twin version for the Atari ST computer, Where Time Stood Still graphic design is extremely clumsy. In the game we can admire only four colors in CGA mode. The isometric view itself is already flawless (very similar to that of The Great Escape), as is the issue of hero control. The big plus is that the inventory is too easy to handle and the possibility of changing the form. Due to the fact that the product does not contain the option of saving the state of the game, it is intended for people who have a lot of free time.
