What the Car? is a crazy, full of wacky humor, skill based game. It was developed by the independent studio Triband, in whose portfolio we can find the project What the Golf? which was based on a similar idea.
Gameplay
In What the Car? we take control of different variations of cars. Apart from the classic "four wheelers", we have at our disposal a vehicle equipped with legs, a stretch limousine, a car shaped like a ball, a car with long mechanical legs, a vehicle that folds like an accordion, or a car placed in the middle of a large wheel. We watch them from various angles - from a bird's eye view, from the back or from the side.
The game takes place on various boards, and on each of them our task is to cover the route from point A to point B. To do this, we have to dash forward and turn, but also jump over gaps and avoid various terrain obstacles & traps. Friendly characters are also waiting to be found, and solving optional environmental puzzles can provide us with access to hidden treasures.
Although the game starts off quite calmly, over time the level of chaos on the maps increases, and with it the difficulty level of the game. The summary displayed after reaching the exit informs us about how well we did on a given board.
Game modes
What the Car? allows only for single player fun. The game has a level editor implemented that allows us to create our own boards and share them with the community. Online rankings constitute a semblance of competition with other players.
Graphics
The graphic design of What the Car? is cartoon styled, known from What the Golf? - earlier project of Triband studio.
