War of Enlightenment is a completely free online historical strategy game written by the independent Finnish artist Timo Hannukkal. The WoE concept strongly resembles the once popular multiplayer games played with the use of mail servers (so-called PBEM - Play-By-EMail). An ambitious creator serves us a similar entertainment - he himself maintains a dedicated server, which sends and receives logs with moves and processes movements in the game.

To start the game, just download the client package from the official website of the project, install it and then register on the game server, choosing one of the two offered game cycles - faster (7 turns per week) and quieter (3 turns per week). All that remains is to wait patiently until a full twenty enthusiasts gather - as many players take part in every game. The game takes us to the Europe of the 17th century and allows us to take control of one of the 20 countries - among which we can find both the superpowers (including France, England, Sweden, Poland, the Ottoman Empire, Russia), as well as lands of somewhat lesser historical importance (including Transylvania, Morocco, Tunisia, Mamelucy).
