War Mechanic is a simulation game in which we manage our own military base during the endless World War II. The game was developed by Chronospace, a Polish studio whose portfolio includes two projects created in cooperation with the Institute of National Remembrance – Cyphers Game and Aviators.

Plot

War Mechanic takes us to the dieselpunk universe and presents us with an alternative vision of history in which World War 2 never ended. We have a military base at our disposal. It is located behind the front lines, and our task is to carry out orders coming from our superiors and fight for survival.

Gameplay

In War Mechanic we view the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). During the game all issues related to the functioning of the military base rest on our shoulders. As the title suggests, our duties include servicing vehicles coming to us from the battlefield, as well as preparing them to go back to the front. Although initially we deal with cars, tanks or airplanes on our own, over time we gain the ability to construct robots and automate work in the workshop with their help.

The latter requires a large amount of raw materials, which we collect by exploring the vast territory surrounding our base. We explore the island on foot or behind the wheel of a vehicle, which we can upgrade as we progress. While plundering abandoned buildings and deserted wrecks, we use a special tool called a blaster, which allows us to acquire resources for expanding our base and upgrading all the infrastructure associated with it. Another sources of resources are the black market and gambling, but they require cunning and cleverness.

This is not the end, as the game also allows us to conquer other bases, thanks to which our "processing power" increases significantly over time. We should not forget that our command center can also fall victim to an attack. When it becomes the target of enemy forces, we have no choice but to defend it, using anti-aircraft guns and other arsenal.
