VRobot: VR Giant Robot Destruction Simulator is an action game that enables us to grab the controls of a great mech and duel other such machine, in the middle of a large metropolis... or simply destroy the city. The game was prepared with VR technology in mind. It was created by independent studio Luden.io (creators of while True: learn() and series InMind and InCell), and the publisher is Nival.
Mechanics
In VRobot: VR Giant Robot Destruction Simulator we observe the action from first-person perspective. The game is about controlling powerful mechs and fighting with other players... or devastating the environment. We have the ability to lift / grab vehicles (ships, cars, as well as helicopters and planes) boulders and even entire buildings and throw them at the enemy (or just throw them where we wish).
We receive points for our actions. As the game progresses, we unlock new funny equipment, such as Arming Tractor Beam, Tornado Maker (as the name suggest, it enables us to throw tornadoes), Transformer's Sword or a hammer, which looks suspiciously similar to Thor's Mjolnir from Marvel universe.
The controls take full advantage of the capabilities of motion controllers - they are very intuitive and give players a great deal of freedom.
It is also worth noting that the creators have prepared several different cities, and many of the maps have unique buildings, in some cases slightly resembling real-life places.
Game modes
VRobot: VR Giant Robot Destruction Simulator can be played solo or with others, but the multiplayer module is undoubtedly the most entertaining part - the games can be played locally (LAN) or via the Internet. In single player mode, the role of our adversary is played by the mysterious red SuperRobot 3000.
Technical aspects
VRobot: VR Giant Robot Destruction Simulator presents at most a decent level of visuals. Models of both character and environment are quite poor, and animations, textures and lighting leave a lot to be desired. Simplicity is partly masked by a funny artistic style that brings to mind associations with animated films. An unquestionable advantage of Luden.io's production is also the total destruction of the environment. The designs of individual robots are also not bad.
The PC version is compatible with HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality goggles. PlayStation VR requires a PlayStation VR helmet and two PlayStation Move controllers to play.
