Voxile is an action adventure game with RPG elements. It was developed by the independent American studio VoxRay Games based in San Francisco. Its creation was made possible, among other things, thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.

Gameplay

In Voxile we watch the action from a first-person perspective (FPP). Our task is to stop the mysterious "ooze" transforming the game world. The goal that guides us serves as a pretext for exploring islands diversified in terms of the challenges and attractions awaiting us.

Islands

Each island represents a separate, open world, which we can freely explore. Some islands force us to fight hordes of enemies and build defensive structures, while others can be relatively stress-free to traverse back and forth, solving puzzles along the way. There are also islands with focus on gathering resources and crafting items.

All the islands from the game are also diversified in terms of size, and among them we can find both those that reveal all their secrets to us within 20 minutes, and those where we end up spending even 10 hours.

World creator

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the islands created manually by the developers, Voxile also allows to visit worlds created by other players or engage in creating our own, and then share them with the community.

The game allows us to manipulate the topography of the terrain, set objects, design and arrange characters, decide on the location of enemies, or create our own quests and hide items related to them.

Combat and character development

Fighting opponents plays an important role in the game. Depending on the specifics of the world in which we find ourselves at a given moment, combat may involve the use of melee weapons, firearms or magic.

As we progress, we develop our character and acquire increasingly powerful equipment, which allows us to gradually face bigger challenges.

Co-op

We can play Voxile alone or in cooperative mode over the Internet.

Graphics

The graphic design of Voxile was based on voxels (in a great simplification - three-dimensional equivalents of pixels). This resulted not only in the distinctive appearance of the game (enhanced by dynamic lighting and ray tracing technology), but also in the ability to destroy everything in our path. Individual objects break down into unique "cubes", gradually revealing the layers they were built from.
