VergeWorld is a shooter with elements of racing games and roguelikes. The player controls a flying combat machine speeding through randomly generated maps, made in a style inspired by 32-bit console and Amiga computer games.

VergeWorld is an arcade game with elements of a shooter and a futuristic racing game. The project was developed by Bad Bones studio.

The game began life as a freeware experiment. The first version of VergeWorld was developed for the Sega Genesis console and Amiga computers. The project turned out to be so successful that it was decided to develop the ideas from it to the level of a full-scale commercial product.

Plot

The game takes us to the distant future on a harsh planet known as Gh2040-B. The player takes on the role of Nix - a member of the ruling class who rebels against the local feudal system of government, steals the experimental combat airship Icarus and escapes to the outskirts of civilization to join the Rebellion.
