Sky Rogue is a dynamic, arcade aerial shooting, realized in minimalistic graphic design. The game is created by an independent, three-person studio Fractal Phase.
In the game we sit at the helm of modern fighters, and our task is to eliminate numerous air, ground and surface targets. The game takes place in a procedurally generated world, composed of countless islands and islets, and the aim of the game is to stay in the air for as long as possible and earn as much cash as possible on this occasion.
We start the game on board of an airplane carrier, where we decide on the choice of aircraft and its armament. In the course of the game we unblock more and more powerful models of fighters and improve our weapons, which will be useful in confrontation with stronger opponents and bosses. During the game we will have to face not only other fighters, but also powerful heavenly cruisers and warships, flooding us with an avalanche of missiles. It is important that death in the game is permanent and in the case of knockdown, we have to start all the fun from the beginning.
Sky Rogue is characterized by a minimalistic, but charming graphics in pastel colors. Individual islands are built (interestingly) of hexagonal fields and filled with simple, angular models. The planes themselves were made in cel-shading technology, giving them a slightly cartoon-like character. The whole is slightly reminiscent of productions from the early 90's and the SEGA Dreamcast console.

Well done to the developers for taking the roguelike to a genre that I would never have expected it would pair up with, and then executing it as well as any dogfighting flight simulator out there. But, while the loot grind is generally enjoyable, and the randomised missions help keep the missions from becoming rote, Sky Rogue does struggle to give you a reason to care about any of it.

Sky Rogue offers an excellent arcade flying experience, with crisp controls and satisfying combat.

Playing Sky Rogue is like going back in time to an era when trying your best to get as far as you can was all that mattered.
