Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns

Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns is the fourth add-on to the arena survival game released in 2022, titled Vampire Survivors. The DLC is the result of cooperation between the Poncle studio and Konami and is a crossover with the famous Contra.

Mechanics

In Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns we join the ranks of the Contra Force unit, whose task is to save the president's cousin's sister's dog, kidnapped by the sinister Red Falcon group.

The adventure takes us through various locations inspired by levels from the Contra series, including the jungle-covered Galuga, Neo City and the Alien Zone. Similar to the base version of the game, we focus on eliminating hordes of enemies - from ordinary adversaries to significantly more powerful bosses.

The expansion gives us a number of characters known from Contra, including Rambo-like commandos - Bill Rizer and Lance Bean. Other playable characters include, among others, a super soldier Brad Fang, a scout robot Probotector (model RD009), or a battle-hardened Lucia, whose past is shrouded in mystery. Each character has an individual fighting style, their own set of strengths and weaknesses, as well as preferred weaponry.

And speaking of weapons - the add-on brings 22 new tools of murder straight from Contra. They include rifles, guided missile launchers and blasters, as well as the so-called Spread Shot, firing several scattered bullets at the same time. We can also take the controls of a jet motorcycle. As we progress, we unlock new types of weapons and characters, as well as develop heroes and upgrade their weapons.

Technical aspects

Vampire Survivors: Operation Guns is a non-standalone DLC, thus it requires the base version of Vampire Survivors to operate. The soundtrack in the add-on contains a number of tracks from the Contra series.
