Unto the End is an action platform game developed by 2 Ton Studios, which takes us to the fantasy land inspired by Norse mythology. Production allows you to play as a Viking, whose family was murdered by a powerful beast. The plot revolves around attempts to take revenge on this monster. Both graphics and game mechanics are two-dimensional.
Unto the End is a brutal 2D platformer. The game was produced by 2 Ton Studios studio and released by Digital Uppercut.
Unto the End is set in a gloomy fantasy land inspired by Nordic mythology. The game tells the story of a warrior whose whole family was murdered by an intelligent beast. The hero miraculously survived its attack and when he regained his strength, he decided to set off on an expedition for revenge.
Unto the End offers only a single-player mode. Most of the game elements are characteristic for 2D platformers. We keep moving to the right side of the screen, avoid traps and solve occasional puzzles. What distinguishes this game from most titles of this genre is the combat system.
The authors have prepared an extensive sword fighting mechanic. Swinging the weapon blindly will quickly end with our death. You need to select the right moments to attack, dodge, parry the attacks and make full use of the various fencing techniques that are in the hero's repertoire. Each enemy type uses a different tactic. The game also has fights with powerful bosses.
Unto the End offers an attractive graphics design, which is made in a very aesthetic 2D. The authors have opted for an eye-catching style full of dimmed colors, while the monumental shots of the landscape harmonize with the harsh climate of this fictional world.

Unto the End does a great job at capturing the struggle of survival and returning home, but is the struggle worth it? There isn’t a huge epic within Unto the End. There is no dialogue and the story is simple. The actual game in length is fairly short, but the repeated deaths due to brutal combat significantly lengthens the experience, if you even finish it. The story’s depth comes from the player’s emotions as they struggle to master the gameplay mirroring the hero’s struggle to make it home. But not everyone plays a video game to feel that kind of frustration. I sure don’t and though there were aspects to like about Unto the End, the combat was overall what ruined the experience for me.
TheSixthAxis: 9 / 10 by Aran Suddi
Unto The End is a challenging game, but not overwhelmingly so. Each combat scenario is unique which keeps things fresh, while the world itself looks nice and hints at a wider world that cares little of your character's adventure. A handful of fights are frustrating and will hold you up, but Unto The End does not overstay its welcome and is easy to recommend to those who enjoy tough fighting challenges.
Nindie Spotlight: 6.8 / 10 by Justin Nation
Mixing together the general feel of grand retro action adventures along the lines of Prince of Persia or Out of This World with some more modern touches, Unto the End has the bones of a solid, if aggravating experience...
