Twilight Path is a puzzle game developed for virtual reality sets. Behind the development is the independent Canadian Charm Games studio, whose source of inspiration were cult films for children, such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Dark Crystal and Neverending Story.
Plot
Twilight Path takes us on a journey to the land of Twilight, a surrealistic place at the meeting point of physical reality and the afterlife. The main character wakes up, having no idea how he got here. In order to return home, he must wander through ancient ruins, discover the secrets of the remains of this former home for stray souls and restore its former splendor.
Mechanics
In Twilight Path the action is observed from the first person perspective (FPP). The game takes place in impressive locations, which, however, we can't freely travel through. Instead, the gameplay is about teleporting from place to place and solving a variety of puzzles blocking the way forward. Puzzles require us to interact with the environment and use a variety of magical abilities, led by telekinesis. An important role is also played by the hero's helpers, who often provide advice (or at least try) and lead lively discussions, which are a valuable source of information about the game world. We are talking about Barque, which resembles a steam machine, a fire engine that drives it, named Singe, and Nix the skylight that can shed some light on even the darkest locations.
Technical aspects
The graphic design of Twilight Path game is quite attractive. The impression is made especially by the full details and impressive size locations, as well as the effects accompanying the use of magic. The game requires not only VR goggles but also dedicated motion controllers to work.
