The mobile version of the well-known cycle of economic strategy games, based on the PC version of Tropico 3. In Tropico Mobile we play the role of the dictator ruling a small country in the tropical archipelago. Feral Interactive studio is responsible for production.
Tropico, released on iOS, is a mobile version of the economic strategies series in which we play the role of the dictator in charge of a small island state. Unlike the main editions of the series, this game wasn't developed by Kalypso (the company behind all the other games of this series). Instead, it was developed by Feral Interactive studio, known for mobile conversions of such series as Grid Autosport or Rome: Total War.
Mechanics
In Tropico, we supervise a small island state. Our choices determine such elements as the well-being of citizens, as well as their level of freedom and civil liberties. The player has an impact on the economy (e.g. extraction of natural resources) and diplomacy (e.g. contact with the leaders of other countries). We can also shape the island itself, both geographically and demographically.
Interestingly, we can change our dictator's appearance as well as skills. Their proper adjustment has a big influence on the further course of the game. We also have the opportunity to visit our country - walk on the beach, visit casinos or make speeches. This fact can also be used for strategic purposes, as the leader's visit most often makes subordinates work much harder.
Game modes
Tropico on iOS has a single-player mode only.
Technical aspects
The iOS version of Tropico is based on Tropico 3 code, released on PC in 2009. The production has an attractive three-dimensional graphic design, which looks good on the screen of a phone or tablet. The controls have been designed to take full advantage of the touchscreens of modern mobile devices - it is worth noting that due to the character of the game e.g. a large amount of text and options, it is much better to play Tropico on a slightly larger screen.
