Vampire Drakul was defeated, the fortress Karel Thurg lay in ruins and the Karmazynowa Korona was again in the hands of the rightful successor to the throne. You, Princess Sabrina and her brother Erik, miraculously avoided death in a powerful explosion and now, on board a small boat, you celebrate victory over the evil of this world. Unfortunately for you, the idyll quickly ends. The impact of a huge wave destroys a fragile sack, and a fearless daredevil throws you into the arms of death....
Vanquish the Night is the third and last installment of the Transylvania series, launched in the early 1980s by Penguin Software, Inc. (known since 1987 as Polarware). In the game you will have to face a new vampire who terrorizes the land of Slavaria, located north of Transylvania. If you manage to kill a bloodthirsty creature, you will be returned to the living world after a tragic death in the sea abyss.
Despite the passage of years, the mechanics of the game has not changed by a single jot. We are still dealing with a text adventure game, in which we enter all orders using the keyboard, typing the appropriate sentences (the Comprehend system implemented in the program distinguishes more than a thousand words). The difference between this and the previous episodes of the series is immediately noticeable, thanks to the much better visual setting, which supports VGA mode, among other things.
Although Vanquish the Night contains fewer locations than the previous installment of the cycle, the riddles are definitely more difficult. It is also easier to die here by making a bad move, which in turn brings this product closer to the original Transylvania.
