The third full-fledged part of the train simulator series, launched in 2017. In Train Sim World 3 we sit behind the controls of a variety of locomotives and speed through routes located in Europe and the United States.
Train Sim World 3 is the third full-fledged installment of the series of sim games launched in 2017, which allow us to take on the role of train drivers. It was developed by Dovetail Games, a studio specializing in this genre.
Game mechanics
In Train Sim World 3, a variety of trains are waiting to be tested. We are talking about, among others, the ES44C4 locomotive with an impressive 4400 horsepower, the German ICE 1 express, capable of accelerating to 280 km/h, or the British Class 395 "Javelin". Sitting at their helm, we speed through a variety of routes, led by the picturesque terrains of German Hesse and Bavaria, the deserts and mountains of California or the British Southeastern Highspeed.
The detailed reproduction of the driver's cabs has many features that must be mastered to fully enjoy the ride. But it doesn't stop there, as the title faithfully simulates the physics of driving, the performance of individual trains or such parameters as braking distance. In addition, driving can be hampered by atmospheric conditions, such as rain, lightning and fully simulated wind. Although driving a train is not easy, we can get acquainted with its meanderings in a specially prepared training center.
Game modes
In Train Sim World 3 you can play with both scenarios and a sandbox mode called Off the Rails. In addition, the game has implemented the Creators Club, which allows us to create our own scenarios and prepare our own train paintings; we can share our designs with the community.
Technical aspects
Train Sim World 3 runs on proprietary SimuGraph technology (which simulates the dynamics of trains) and the Unreal Engine 4 engine. Graphics look very decent - you may like both the trains reproduced in detail, as well as the environment or changing weather conditions.
