Total Conflict: Resistance Description
Total Conflict: Resistance is an elaborate combination of a strategy game and tactical FPS. The game allows you to conduct both diplomacy and warfare, directly manage your squads or even join combat as one of the troops.
It was developed by Thunder Devs, a studio responsible for games such as the BattleRush series.
Plot
Two decades ago, the island state of Cambridia was wealthy and prosperous. Years of disastrous management by greedy politicians, however, squandered any and all opportunity for progress and divided the country. A civil war engulfed the island, becoming an outlet for ruthless bandits and mercenaries looking for easy gain.
Mechanics
There are several layers of gameplay in Total Conflict: Resistance. The game tasks us with conducting local and international politics in the name of our faction or one of the many others warring for the reign over Cambridia (democrats, communists or anarchists). We can also influence the island's economy and industry as well as the balance of power - to gain military advantage we can build fortifications, equipment factories, plan air raids, recon missions or supply deliveries.
Total Conflict: Resistance also features a tactical mode, in which we can lead individual squads. By observing our units from the top-down perspective we can choose their target and the weapon used. We can also influence combat directly in first-person view, controlling one of the soldiers to eliminate enemies and give orders from the battlefield. In this mode we can use one of approximately 50 available weapons (such as pistols, rifles, rocket launchers etc.) and control many different machines (such as civilian vehicles and tanks).
An important aspect of Total Conflict: Resistance is realism, which is especially evident in how the weapons behave. The developers have put care into making every weapon look and sound authentic, with the bullets' velocity and penetration also accurately represented.
