Thunder Helix Description
Thunder Helix is an arcade combat helicopter simulator. It was developed by David Walters, the author of, among others, Grid Cartographer.
Game mechanics
The game combines elements of simulation and arcade game. On the one hand, the behaviour of machines in the air is ruled by quite a realistic physical engine, but at the same time the control is very simplified, allowing even novices to quickly start playing. Additionally, elements typical for arcade shooters have been added. For example, camels play here the role similar to exploding barrels in FPSs.
In Thunder Helix we can sit in the cockpit of many types of combat helicopters, each of which has a unique specification and function. We complete tasks during the day or at night. A virtual training mode is also available.
During the game we fight with the enemy forces and complete missions. On the board of the helicopter we have a winch, which is used to lift ammunition, fuel and people we have to evacuate from the ground.
Game modes
Thunder Helix offers only single player mode. Within it, we can play in a few different campaigns.
Technical aspects
The game was made in retro style, referring to flight simulators from the end of the 80s. half of the 90s. Graphics in Thunder Helix is vector and devoid of textures, and cockpits were made in 2D. The game runs at 320x200 resolution in 16 or 256 color mode.
