The devs have prepared two different characters and separate stories for each of them, which makes it possible to play Threads of Fate it's like two games in one.
Story
The title tells the story of two completely different heroes who set out to search for an artifact of great power. Rue, wielder of a magical axe, wants to use the artifact to revive his deceased friend Claire. The egocentric princess Mint, on the other hand, wants its power only to take revenge on her enemies and dethrone her hated sister. During the adventure, the fates of both characters intersect, revealing new details about their characters and views. Rue's story is serious and reflective, while Mint's story is much more humorous.
Mechanics
Threads of Fate is a three-dimensional action RPG, in which the hero, led by the players, explores new areas, talks to NPCs, performs tasks entrusted to them and fights dozens of arcade battles. A unique element in the game from the Japanese masters of the genre at Squaresoft are two heroes with different skill set. Each of them has a different fighting style. Rue eliminates enemies with blows of his powerful axe. At any moment he can also turn into a recently defeated beast, thus gaining all its abilities. Mint, on the other hand, puts more emphasis on speed in combat, taking out tougher opponents with spells. The devs have prepared a different path for both characters, as well as a few appropriately matched challenges.
Technical aspects
Threads of Fate uses three-dimensional visuals to present characters and the world. The title is distinguished by Jun'ya Nakano's soundtrack, which gave him international popularity. The composer previously worked on other Squaresoft projects, such as Tobal No. 1 or Front Mission: Gun Hazard.
