Mechanics

In terms of gameplay, Thea 2: The Shattering for PC expands the ideas from the series’ first game. Once again, we get an unusual mixture of genres where 4X strategy elements blend with RPG and card game mechanics.

Game world is generated procedurally and offers many diverse locations, including dungeons filled with treasures and artifacts. We can play in the style of a nomad, focusing only on expeditions and adventures, or have a more strategic approach and build many villages and join the conquered territories to our kingdom.

As we play, we gather resources which we then use in the crafting system. Just like the game’s world, lists of ingredients required for crafting items are generated procedurally. We will also spend much time on fighting with other factions and demons that devastate the land. The card game combat mechanics known from the previous game are still present, but now come with some new options that make combat more tactical. There are also some adventure game elements present in Thea 2 that work similarly to a gamebook. In situations where they apply, we have to make a decision that influences the plot.

Game Modes

Thea 2: The Shattering for PC offers both single player and multiplayer modes. Additionally, the game comes with an easy-to-use modding tools that can be used to change almost every element in the game allow us to create our own adventures.
