The Wardrobe is a point-and-click adventure game inspired by classic titles from the 1990s, including Day of the Tentacle and Sam & Max Hit the Road. The PC version of the game was developed by C.I.N.I.C. Games, while the console version by MixedBag in cooperation with Adventure Productions.
Story
The main character of The Wardrobe is Skinny, who is allergic to plums, and who five years ago was fed these fruits by his friend Ronald and died as a result of an anaphylactic shock. The protagonist was brought back to life as a skeleton living in the closet of his former colleague. After some time he was asked to convince Ronald to admit his guilt - this being the only way Skinny can save his soul from eternal condemnation.
It should be added that the game is characterized by absurd humor - it is full of politically incorrect jokes and references to pop culture.
Mechanics
In The Wardrobe the action is shown from the side. During the game, we traverse forty carefully designed locations, where more than seventy original NPCs are waiting for us, with whom we can a chat; many of them can help Skinny by giving him the information he needs, so during the conversations, it is worth experimenting and choosing a variety of dialogue options.
The pillar of the game is solving environmental puzzles consisting mainly of searching for items and using them in a specific way. With each object we can enter into one of four types of interaction - look, pick up, use or talk.
Technical aspects
Two-dimensional visuals of The Wardrobe's adopt a cartoonish style, making them quite pleasing to watch. Also noteworthy is the catchy, rock soundtrack that accompanies Skinny's adventures. It is worth noting that the PlayStation 4 version uses the DualShock 4 touchpad; the Nintendo Switch version uses the touchscreen.
