The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk Description
The Last Wind Monk for PC, PS4 and etc. is a subtitle of a continuation to a well-received point-and-click adventure game The Inner World, Similar to the first installment, The Last Wind Monk was created by an independent developer, Studio Fizbin.
Plot
Although The Last Wind Monk is set three years after the events depicted in the first installment, the player does not have to be familiar with them in order to enjoy the story present in this game. Robert – one of the main characters – was turned into a stone and spent the last three years in this form. Meanwhile, the flute noses – the dynasty he represents, has been gradually losing its influence in Asposia to the evil Emil – the villain managed both to convince the inhabitants that the family has connections with dark forces, and to take control over the land through establishing a dictatorship.
Obviously, it will be Robert's task to stop the enemy of the family - finding the enigmatic, titular Last Wind Monk is supposed to be the protagonist's key to success. Fortunately, Robert can count again on his loyal friends, as he has no idea how to fulfill the mission he has been given. Laura and the pigeon Peck appeared already in the first installment, but they are accompanied here be a mysterious ally by the name of Mama Dola – she seems to know something about Robert's destiny.
Mechanics
In similarity to the original game, The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk mainly requires the player to discover secrets hidden within different locations (above all, the player visits a prison and the Shovel Mountains) and to solve puzzles based mainly on manipulating different mechanisms, using items one has gathered, and performing songs on Robert's flute nose; the player also talks to NPCs encountered and completes more and less complex assignments for them. At different times, the player controls Robert, Laura or Peck; the in-game system of hints provides help while solving the more difficult puzzles.
Technical aspects
The Inner World: The Last Wind Monk for PC, PS4 and etc. offers high-fidelity, two-dimensional graphics – the cartoonish graphic style employed in this game brings European animated movies into mind, and this impression is intensified by the presence of fully-voiced dialogues and pleasant music.
